Our Mission

Kingdom of Lala is driven by a passion to see more black owned businesses elevating African inspired products within the luxury market. This is particularly important to help change perceptions and break down barriers of social class, discrimination and stereotypes. We aim to contribute towards changing these perceptions, inspiring people from different backgrounds to feel engaged and connected to a beautifully rich and powerful culture.

Where it all began

When we started working on the idea back in 2020, we had plans to develop our core range around our bed linen concept. This is where the word ‘lala’ comes from. The Swahili word "lala" is a verb that translates  "to sleep" in English. As we started to establish the brand, we realised it would be a better move to make a small selection of accent pieces using our textile designs first, this is what you see today. Our vision is to build on this collection, developing our bed linen range further down the line.

We developed several textile design ideas based on three concepts and began to explore the types of interiors that would work best. We wanted to make everything from scratch and so the product development stage began.

A celebration of Africa in your home

What you see today is our launch collection, designed to give you a taste of more to come and for us to introduce you to ancient Africa through our textile designs. Our designs are charismatic, distinctive, and iconic, they are a celebration of Africa in your home. As we weave stories of Africa through our collections you can expect to find pieces made with authentic African materials meets modern design. They are made to inspire and cultivate self expression, adding a rich narrative and purpose to spaces, shaping the way you live and feel in the moment and beyond.
